Install

Download the installer. Double-click. The bar appears at the bottom of your primary monitor.

Press F9

F9 is the default trigger. Open settings to remap it to anything — Alt+V, Ctrl+Space, you pick.

Speak

Tap the hotkey from any app. The waveform shows it's listening. Tap again to stop.

It pastes

Speech is processed on-device. Text drops into wherever your cursor is — fast and accurate.

Is it really free? What's the catch?

Yes, 100% free, forever. No ads, no usage caps, no tracking, no subscription, no premium tier. There is no upsell screen anywhere in the app. If TalkPulse saves you time and you'd like to support the work, there's a "Buy me a coffee" link in the settings panel and on this page — entirely optional, never required.

Does my voice get sent anywhere?

No. The speech model is bundled into the app and runs locally on your machine. TalkPulse makes zero network requests during transcription. You can confirm by simply turning off your Wi-Fi — it works the same.

Why Windows only?

TalkPulse is built for Windows 10 and 11. That's the platform it's designed, tested, and shipped for. Other operating systems are not supported.

How accurate is it?

Very. TalkPulse handles natural speech, fast speech, accents, and full paragraphs without coaching. It works best in a reasonably quiet room — same as any dictation tool — and it gets clearer the more clearly you talk, just like a human listener would. The bundled tiny Whisper model is tuned with beam-search decoding and multi-threaded CPU inference for the best output we can get from a small offline model.

What hardware do I need? Will it run on an old laptop?

Offline transcription is real machine-learning work, so your computer matters. The smoother your hardware, the smoother TalkPulse feels.

Recommended for the best experience:

A modern multi-core CPU (Intel i5/i7 or Ryzen 5/7 from the last few years).
A dedicated GPU (NVIDIA / AMD) — speech runs noticeably faster on a real graphics card.
At least 8 GB RAM (16 GB is more comfortable).
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.

Older or low-spec machines — basic ultrabooks, integrated-graphics laptops, or anything 6+ years old — can run TalkPulse, but transcription may be slow, especially for long sentences. If you're on a thin-and-light laptop without a dedicated GPU, expect a noticeable wait of a couple of seconds after you stop recording.

How does auto-paste work?

It copies the transcript to your clipboard and pastes it into whichever window has focus. The same mechanism every clipboard manager uses. You can disable auto-paste in settings if you'd rather paste manually.

Can I trust the app?

Reasonable question. TalkPulse runs entirely on your computer — no servers, no accounts, no analytics. You can verify it never makes a network call by running it offline. If something feels off, email me directly and I'll answer.

Will it always be free?

Yes. TalkPulse stays free forever. There is no paid tier, no upcoming paywall, no "free trial" that expires. If you'd like to support the project, the "Buy me a coffee" link is the only ask — and it's always optional.
