TalkPulse is a tiny floating bar that lives at the bottom of your screen. Press a hotkey, speak a sentence — even a paragraph — and your words appear in whatever you're typing into. Email, code editor, browser, Slack. The model runs on your machine. No accounts, no API keys, no audio ever leaves your laptop.
No subscriptions. No "credits". No "AI rewrite premium tier". Just a microphone shortcut that works the way you'd expect — and stays out of your way.
The speech model lives inside the app. Your audio never leaves your machine — no network calls, not even the first time you open it.
Default is F9 — change it to anything you like. Tap once to start, tap again to stop. The bar lives on top of every window.
The transcript drops into the active text field automatically. Reply to email by speaking. Write commit messages. Fill forms. Dictate prompts.
A 320×40 px floating bar with a live audio meter. You can see it heard you. Click the wave instead of the hotkey if you prefer.
No sign-up. No email capture. No anonymous ID. Download, run, talk. The settings are stored locally and that is the only thing stored.
The app costs nothing. The bundled model costs nothing. There is no premium tier, no upgrade screen, no usage caps. Built as a gift, not a funnel.
No prompt engineering. No GUI to learn. The fastest path between your brain and a text field.
Download the installer. Double-click. The bar appears at the bottom of your primary monitor.
F9 is the default trigger. Open settings to remap it to anything — Alt+V, Ctrl+Space, you pick.
Tap the hotkey from any app. The waveform shows it's listening. Tap again to stop.
Speech is processed on-device. Text drops into wherever your cursor is — fast and accurate.
If something isn't covered, the source code is the long answer.
Yes, 100% free, forever. No ads, no usage caps, no tracking, no subscription, no premium tier. There is no upsell screen anywhere in the app. If TalkPulse saves you time and you'd like to support the work, there's a "Buy me a coffee" link in the settings panel and on this page — entirely optional, never required.
No. The speech model is bundled into the app and runs locally on your machine. TalkPulse makes zero network requests during transcription. You can confirm by simply turning off your Wi-Fi — it works the same.
TalkPulse is built for Windows 10 and 11. That's the platform it's designed, tested, and shipped for. Other operating systems are not supported.
Very. TalkPulse handles natural speech, fast speech, accents, and full paragraphs without coaching. It works best in a reasonably quiet room — same as any dictation tool — and it gets clearer the more clearly you talk, just like a human listener would. The bundled tiny Whisper model is tuned with beam-search decoding and multi-threaded CPU inference for the best output we can get from a small offline model.
Offline transcription is real machine-learning work, so your computer matters. The smoother your hardware, the smoother TalkPulse feels.
Recommended for the best experience:
Older or low-spec machines — basic ultrabooks, integrated-graphics laptops, or anything 6+ years old — can run TalkPulse, but transcription may be slow, especially for long sentences. If you're on a thin-and-light laptop without a dedicated GPU, expect a noticeable wait of a couple of seconds after you stop recording.
It copies the transcript to your clipboard and pastes it into whichever window has focus. The same mechanism every clipboard manager uses. You can disable auto-paste in settings if you'd rather paste manually.
Reasonable question. TalkPulse runs entirely on your computer — no servers, no accounts, no analytics. You can verify it never makes a network call by running it offline. If something feels off, email me directly and I'll answer.
Yes. TalkPulse stays free forever. There is no paid tier, no upcoming paywall, no "free trial" that expires. If you'd like to support the project, the "Buy me a coffee" link is the only ask — and it's always optional.
No subscriptions. No tiers. No "Pro upgrade." TalkPulse is free, today and forever. If it earns a spot in your daily workflow and you'd like to chip in, the coffee jar's right there.
The whole app. Everyday offline voice typing. No accounts, no telemetry, no expiry.
Entirely optional. Fuels late-night feature builds and the next round of model tuning. No tracking, no email capture — just a tip jar.

One file. One double-click. Uninstall anytime. No accounts, no email, no email capture, no tracking — really.
Old laptops & integrated-graphics machines may run slowly. On low-spec hardware, expect a noticeable wait of a couple of seconds after you stop recording — the model is doing real work on your CPU. Modern multi-core machines feel near-instant.
By downloading, you agree to the Terms & Disclaimer. TalkPulse is provided as-is and is currently in active beta.
Read this once. By installing or running TalkPulse, you confirm that you understand and accept the terms below. Plain language — no legal theatre.
TalkPulse is provided "as-is" and "as-available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement. You install and run it at your own risk.
This software is currently in beta and under continuous development. Features may change, break, be removed, or be added without notice. Updates may alter behavior, hotkeys, file formats, or settings. Some builds may contain bugs. You should not rely on TalkPulse for mission-critical, time-sensitive, or irreplaceable work without your own backups and verification.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, TalkPulse. This includes — without limitation — damage to your device, operating system, files, data, recordings, transcripts, productivity, reputation, or any third-party software running on your machine.
TalkPulse uses speech-recognition technology derived from OpenAI's Whisper and other free / open-source components. These components are bound by their own licenses and limitations. Whisper itself is a research model that can occasionally produce inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated transcriptions ("hallucinations"). You are responsible for proofreading anything important.
Offline speech recognition is computationally intensive. TalkPulse runs best on a modern multi-core CPU (Intel i5/i7 or Ryzen 5/7 from the last few years), 8 GB RAM or more, and Windows 10 / 11 64-bit. On older laptops, ultrabooks with integrated graphics, or low-spec machines, transcription may be noticeably slow, the app may consume significant CPU, RAM, or battery, and your system may feel sluggish during processing. We do not guarantee any specific speed, latency, accuracy, or resource footprint on any particular machine.
TalkPulse requests microphone access, global keyboard shortcut registration, and clipboard access in order to function. By installing, you grant permission for the app to use these features as described. You can revoke them through Windows Settings at any time, which will limit or break functionality.
TalkPulse does not include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any form of user tracking. We do not collect, store, or transmit your voice, transcripts, settings, IP address, device ID, or any personal data. The app runs entirely on your machine and makes zero outbound network requests. We do not operate any servers connected to TalkPulse.
